Leverage Models
"Dreaming of Accidents"
Shannon Fields goes solo, which sounds exactly like what you never knew you hoped it would sound like. Right? Expectations be damned. There's a bit of Berlin Trilogy era Bowie/Eno in this tune, the first glimpse into Shannon's cabin fever dreamscapes. (These are the sounds he's made since moving upstate, which makes sense, I think.) There's also a bit of the idiosyncratic loner funk of fellow upstater Gary Wilson. Ultimately, the tune stands apart, collaging and overlaying and deconstructing and transcending familiar modes with a new model, as has all of Shannon's previous work (Stars Like Fleas, Silent League, etc.).
Expect an EP to be released on Hometapes in 2011. I, for one, can't wait to hear what more there is to come. Then again, what good are expectations?
