Yep. Great use of negative space.
The Big Ten NCAA athletic conference makes a similar subtle use of negative space. NOTE: The conference actually has 11 teams, as shown in the negative space below the T.

The Ofestar pointed this out to me about a year ago and I couldn't believe I had never noticed. Now I can't look at it without seeing it. I think about it every day.
